This wall began with a material investigation. By looking past the cultural meaning of the toilet paper roll, unique physical properties emerged. Linearity, planarity, and tensile strength came to the fore. These properties presented the unique challenge of creating an architectural element that had the thickness of a two-ply sheet. Strung taut between two columns with fishing line, the Toilet Paper Wall, like the Paper Clip Afghan creates a unique tension between cognitive and visceral experiences.
